Will Run For Beer… of Course
Okay so who says you cannot be healthy and enjoy a beer or two. So easy sign up and package pick at one of my favorite places Road Runner. The shirt was super cool although I did not wear it as it is heavy cotton and I really like my From Fat To Finish Line shirt. Not to many goodies in the goodie bad but not complaining as I found this on Groupon.
I am really getting good at prepping the night before. Laying out what I am going to wear and what I am going to take with me. I along with many others lay out my Flat Teri. This was all I have to do is get up, get dressed, eat my mandatory peanut butter sandwich and take off.
Now off to the race and hopping that parking will be an easy find. I love the location of the run, downtown and running close to the water and with the Coronado Bridge in your view you cannot beat that. I park at the Hotel not a bad deal at $15 as I plan on hanging out downtown for a bit after the race. As I am walking over to the venue I meet up with some really nice runners and we swap running stories. What was really cool was a guy that I was talking to ran his first K at the Craft Classic and is working to lose weight. I loved to share my story with him and share what I have learned from running.
Now it is race time and I am getting nervous, I am not sure why as I have done enough 5K’s to be over this but not today. So I take my before race picture and get ready to run.
And we are off and for the first time in awhile I feel real good. I keep a pretty good pace up but I have to say the course itself was not very well organized. to explain I get to a point in the run where there is a lady directing persons and it is where runners are overlaping each other. She directs the runners the wrong way and it takes a minute for some of us to figure it out and turn around and get back on course. Even with that the course is short a 5K. On all three trackers I was using it came up 2.93, that is quite a bit under a 5K.
But I did great, felt good while I was running and find the more I run the more I love running!!! So what do you do when you finish a beer run, you drink a beer, With the run you go 4 tickets you could either use them for tastes or 2 full beers. I decided on full beers. The first one I got was a sour beer and lets just say YUCK!!!! I took about two tastes and nope that was not going in my belly. So off to find a better tasting beer and luck would have it I did. I found a nice light beer from Legacy Brewing. It really was refreshing as it was starting to get a little hot. Who would have thought drinking beer after a race would not only be a thing but a good thing. It really does help with recovery.
So race #22 is in the books and it was a good one. See you at the next finish line.
